Innovative, custom fit, 3D resin printed eyewear; ID7 is the eyewear brand of the future.
The ID7 project was a large team project, which involved everyone in the unit class of nine ID students. The project was focused on creating eyewear that solved some of the issues of traditional eyewear frames in an innovative solution. This was primarily done for the client, the UC eye clinic. Each individual was given a role that they were responsible for within the project, which all came together as the end product and brand.

The target market was quite broad, due to the nature of the product, being eyewear frames. The intended user market age range was more 20-60 years, as it contained a vast majority of tech apps/websites/filters to get the frames right for the user.

The purpose of the project was to create a more innovative, effective solution to traditional eyewear that tackled many of the issues found with the original frames for the user, ultimately making the eyewear experience, from start to finish, to product use, more desirable.

We took on the brief as a team, refining the specifics that were to be tackled for the project, as well as the direction to take it. The eyewear project focused on creating custom, 3D printed eyewear frames that used innovative tech to make the experience easier for the user. The tech aspects included filters, that let the user virtually try on the different frames and a website that made it easy for the user to order their custom frames, which focused on making these individualised, custom measurements to fit each user and name on the frames. I was responsible for the brand creation/identity of the project. Within this, I created the ID7 name, the logo, styleguide, panels and panel templates, and so on. My job was focused on creating a strong brand that represented the story and brand principles as accurately as possible.

The project was hard work to pull off the ambitious goals the team aimed for, but with hard work, the project launch exhibition generated a lot of interest. The launch had large presentation panels explaining each part of the brand and story, high fidelity prototypes, a 3D printer running and creating a pair of the eyewear frame, website running, glasses case prototypes and high quality render animations of the frames on a large screen.
The exhibition project launch generated a great deal of interest from clients and guests. The brand will be funded to begin production of frames to be sold at the UC eyewear clinic. The project will feature in Design Canberra, with the prospect of a mini exhibition in the Canberra Centre is on the cards. This project had an overall extremely positive response, which was really rewarding.
